One of the most original and ground-breaking humour classics of all time, the Papperbok was compiled for Methuen in the early-1970s by the young Monty Python team at the height of their creative powers, and was published on the heels of the improbable success of the Monty Python's Flying Circus television series. A surreal delight, the Papperbok broke the mould for tie-in books, and was a testing ground for ideas equally as fresh and funny as the Flying Circus material. It is full of colourful and rude illustrations by Terry Gilliam, odd-ball instruction sheets, cod schoolboy stories about adventure and mischief, misleading horoscopes, informative and thrilling features such as 'Hamster: A Warning', 'The Python Book of Etiquette', and 'The London Casebook of Detective Rene Descartes', zany competitions, fake editorials, spurious film reviews, and some of the oddest miscellany ever pressed between the pages of a book. Nothing certain by John Cleese. Michael Palin probably had nothing whatsoever to do with this bok. Graham Chapman must not have done anything. Terry Gilliam did not assist in anyway (we think) with the production. Funny, weird and delightful as only the Python could do. Don't miss page 71, I am not kidding.

A very good, clean, tight copy.

Also. tip-in bookplate, booklets & small pamplets laid in & loads of full color photos & artwork. The stains on the front cover are printed & part of the humor. There is light wear and some corner creases to the front and back covers which are not part of the book, otherwise the book is vg. Book.

They wrote their own reviews Here is Monty Python s eagerly awaited second book. In it the themes and patterns of the first book are stated and re-stated, but with a new and perceptive dramatic intensity which is really triffic, absolutely triffic. And the terffic thing about it is it s so triffically good. On the first free endpaper is glued in a library withdrawal listing of people who have taken this book out see the photo. During the first part of the book they keep referring to Page 71, as if there is something incredibly important there look at the photo. This book has no surprises if you are a Python fan like me. This large format book is in near-fine condition in a very-good dust jacket that is now enclosed in a protective mylar wrap.
