Hardcover. Condizione: Very Good. Condizione sovraccoperta: Very Good. 1st Edition. Not a book but a double album, comprising a pair of 12-inch, 33-1/3 rpm stereo vinyl discs in a cardboard jacket which is not merely a gatefold but which actually folds out into a 24 X 24-inch poster (a rather uninspired pastiche of candid B&W photos plus a few colorful clowns), A&M Records AMLS 6002, very-good-plus vinyl in a very-good jacket. Recorded 27th and 28th March, 1970, at the Fillmore East. A film, this album (featuring at least 11 singers and 10 musicians) and the single "The Letter" / "Space Captain" reportedly resulted. Includes "Honky Tonk Women" (Jagger-Richard, and the disc label now corrected from "Honky Tonk Woman"), Isaac Hayes' "When Something Is Wrong With My Baby"; Bob Dylan's "Girl From The North Country"; Russell & Bramlett's "Give Peace a Chance"; Wayne Carson Thompson's "The Letter," and of course "She Came In Through the Bathroom Window." Hardcover. Condizione: new. Hardcover. JOE COCKER is one of the most dynamic singing stars to emerge from the Twentieth Century, and was one of the most unique, creative, and memorablerockers around. With distinctively huge hits like, With a Little Help from My Friends, You Are So Beautiful, and his Number One duet withJennifer Warnes, Up Where We Belong, Cocker is a one-of-a-kind legend. Although he was relatively unknown in 1969 when he took the stage of the Woodstock Music Festival, he quickly rose to fame for his trademark onstage choreography and anguished blues singing. His album, Mad Dogs & Englishmen cemented his international stardom. Though he was an Academy and Grammy Award winner, Cockers life was not always on an uphill track. He suffered from low self-esteem and bouts of depression. It wasnt until later in his life that he met the love of his life, Pam, who helped him put his personal life back on track before his death in 2014. Cockers life was one of attaining goals, making disastrous mistakes, and ultimately finding happiness and redemption in the eleventh hour. In Joe Cocker: With a LOT of Help from His Friends, every aspect of Joes amazing life and career is examined and explained. Paperback. Condizione: new. Paperback. Joe Cocker is a rock legend. A gas fitter who went from playing Sheffield pubs to the stadiums of the world, he was the man who no one - not even himself - expected to survive the age of 30. Now, approaching his 60s and having recovered his life and career, he has co-operated with the full and frank biography to tell of all the highs and lows of his remarkable journey. Even by the crazy standards of rock'n'roll it is an amazing story. Since his mind-blowing interpretation of the Beatles' "With a Little Help From My Friends" topped the British charts in 1968, Joe Cocker has had hits in every decade and in more countries than he can remember. His appearance in the movie of Woodstock in 1969 catapulted him to worldwide fame and his Mad Dogs and Englishmen tour of America almost killed him. Here he talks to biographer J.P. Bean about his heroin addiction, alcoholism, the arrests that got him thrown in jail, and the demons that haunted him for years. But most of all it is an uplifting story of an ordinary man who lit up America like a beacon in the night, was written off as a shambolic wreck and then - against all the odds - climbed back to become an even bigger star than he was first time around.
