It is theoretically and practically observed that sometimes partitioning the problem space into more than two parts can give better performances. In this work we proposed that dividing the problem space into (n) number of parts can give better result.We organized the book as follows,in Chapter 2, we discussed Divide-and-Conquer algorithm and Closest-Pair problem. In Chapter 3, we reviewed previous works about Divide-and- Conquer algorithm to solve Closest-Pair problem. In Chapter 4, we present detailed version of the Basic-2 algorithm and give the correspondent proof of correctness as presented by Jos e C. Pereira & Fernando G. Lobo (2010). In Chapter 5, some previous proofs are given where is proven that 2-ary system is not the best choice for all the algorithms. The results in this chapter are based on [Kayk98]. In Chapter 6, a new procedure of divide and conquer rule is presented to solve the closest pair of points problem. In Chapter 7, we discussed future work and conclude our work. 76 pp. Englisch.

A divide and conquer algorithm works by recursively breaking down a problem into two or more sub-problems of the same (or related) type, until these become simple enough to be solved directly. The solutions to the sub-problems are then combined to give a solution to the original problem. This technique is the basis of efficient algorithms for all kinds of problems, such as sorting (e.g., quicksort, merge sort), multiplying large numbers (e.g. Karatsuba), syntactic analysis (e.g., top-down parsers), and computing the discrete Fourier transform (FFTs). On the other hand, the ability to understand and design D&C algorithms is a skill that takes time to master. As when proving a theorem by induction, it is often necessary to replace the original problem by a more general or complicated problem in order to get the recursion going, and there is no systematic method for finding the proper generalization. 180 pp. Englisch.

Apart from this Localized Optimization Framework is introduced,which standardizes divide and conquer strategies. Genetic Algorithm is used in this framework to be called as Localized Genetic Algorithm. Lastly, a standard unit for computational comparison i.e., Bellman's Evaluation Units BEUs, is also introduced to facilitate computational comparisons for future researchers. Furthermore computational complexity estimation is also modelled to estimate computational time without actual experimentation.
