SIGNED BY STAN SCOTT, without dedication on half-title page. Signing reads, 'With Compliments/Stan W Scott/Scotty/No 3 Troop 3 Commando'. Illustrated with photographs and maps. These are the Second World War recollections of Stan Scott (1924-2014). It chronicles his colourful journey from being a lad with a passion for all things military to soldering in an elite unit. In his attempts to get to the front line he enlisted under-age, was discovered, joined the Home Guard, and eventfully ended up in 70th Young Soldiers Battalion, for those too young to serve overseas. This subsequent led, via the Royal West Kents, to an interesting but frustrating time serving with the Queen's Royal Regiment in Iraq, in preparation for the fighting in North Africa. The turning point for Stan was a lecture by the Army Commando recruitment officer. He knew this was what he wanted, and ultimately led to him becoming a member of Peter Young's famous Number 3 Commando. With Appendix and Index. A fine copy, in a fine d/w, of a SCARCE first edition, first printing SIGNED BY STAN SCOTT. Signed by Stan Scott.
