Condizione: new. (Hardcover, 1969). (1959) 1965 2nd English edition. 4to (181 x 253mm). Ppviii,230. B/w photographs, illustrations. Yellow cloth with black title-label on spine. Slight browning to end-papers & other minor faults - good copy in frayed dust-wrapper. Second edition with a new Introduction by Dermot Wilson. One of the great angling books of the twentieth century. Much of the book is on technique, especially Ritz's famous "High speed - high line" method of casting. His reminiscences of fishing, especially in Europe, make wonderful reading. I note that in the chapters on specific fish, the grayling is the first on his list, and the salmon last. .

Charles Ritz emigrated to the United States in 1916 where he became a soldier in the US Army. When World War I ended, Ritz returned to the US, and soon spent considerable time mastering the art of fly-fishing in the American West. Ritz returned to France in the 1930s. His experience with fly fishing made him one of the foremost specialists on the subject. Ernest Hemingway called him, "One of the finest fly fisherman I know". Ritz wrote this book, A Fly Fisher's Life, which has been read by anglers around the world. It has been regarded as one of the landmarks of fly fishing literature. Ref KKK 4.
