Aggiungi al carrelloQuarto (26.5cm); carbon typescript (rectos only), double hole-punched and ribbon-tied into drab greyish-green wrappers; [iv],[1]-72,[1]pp. Wrappers worn, with numerous tears, shallow losses, and attendant creases to extremities, and some ink staining to upper front cover that's bled through slightly onto two preliminary leaves; circular embossed stamp of Mrs. Marshall's Typewriting Office to lower rear blank. Enter Rabener's secretary Fanquist, whose lover was murdered by Rabener, and who shoots him on stage. She flees, and together with a clum employee concocts a plan to frame one of Rabener's henchmen for the murder. The stage production ran for a year at the London Hippodrome (November, 1941-October, 1942) before transferring to the Prince of Wales Theatre for another couple of months. The story was not collected in print until its inclusion in a collection of short fiction in the late 1980s. An interesting, early work by the hard-boiled master, produced just two years after No Orchids for Miss Blandish; not separately listed in OCLC.…
