End papers and flyleaves lightly foxed, frontispiece and tissue guard with foxing, edges of text block with light foxing. Remnants of bookplate? on front flyleaf. Light rubbing at extremities. A nice Ex Libris bookplate of Jacob Bates Abbott on front paste down. This was his personal copy and it depicts a naked lady riding a bear with a knight in armor behind her. Jacob Bates Abbott (1895-1950) was a prolific book illustrator who lived in California and Pennsylvania. Contents clean and tight with no marks or inscriptions. PayPal accepted.

Sharp Eyes - A Rambler's Calendar of Fifty-Two Weeks Among Insects, Birds and Flowers, by William Hamilton Gibson. 1892 First Edition. New York: Harper & Brothers, Franklin Square, 1892. Octavo, cloth bound, silver ans gilt imprinting on front cover and on spine, top edge gilt, replete with very high quality black and white illustrations by the author, 345 pp. (xx + 2 + 322 +1). Technically and officially, just Good, but in my opinion a bit better. Wear and some staining to front and rear boards, general darkening over the years. Early owners1891 signature ffep. Stout binding, and this can be read and consulted without fear. Contents are well-preserved, and produced using high quality glossy paper. A journal-book of 52 weekly nature walks by Gibson, following the inspiration of naturists like Thoreau in so doing. Personally, I like the illustrations - a lot. And there are a lot of them. The mystery? How did the first owner autograph the ffep in 1891 when it was published in 1892 ? Little bit of time-travel, or was he the beneficiary of an advance copy? Only the Shadow Knows. This person, whenever, clearly made good use of this year-long journal; the wear of the boards is the only reason its limited to the Good grade. See all images provided here (there are 10).
