Soft cover. Condizione: Very Good. CORTHELL, Elmer L. The Atlantic and Pacific Ship-Railway across the Isthmus of Tehuantepec in Mexico, Considered Commercially, Politically and Constructively. Bowne and Co., Printers, NYC, January 1886. 9"x6", 80pp, 6 plates. Original wrappers. [++] There is a condition issue: the pamphlet is in halves as the folding plates were too heavy for any repeated opening and use on the slm binding and so the halving of the work.[++] Provenance: U.S. Geological Survey, and hen the Library of Congress, with their two rubber stamps on front wrapper; then one stamp each on front flyleaf and the title page. Nice copy of a very interesting report (see photos) that puts me in mind of the impossible movie, "Fitzcaraldo". Werner Herzog. If you don't know the movie, go check it out. What a spectacular image of the ship being moved by locomotives overland. Fabu!
