Learn to solve complex differential equations using MATLAB® with this comprehensive guide. It teaches readers how to numerically tackle both ordinary and partial differential equations, integrating MATLAB programming with theoretical concepts and modeling. By combining these elements, the author encourages readers to conduct their own computer experiments, deepening their understanding of differential equations. The text is divided into three parts, providing all necessary tools for mastering MATLAB in this context. It is suitable for courses in numerical differential equations, numerical analysis, and traditional ordinary and partial differential equations. The material has been classroom-tested over many years, ensuring that even self-learners with a basic understanding of single-variable calculus can grasp the content. The book utilizes MATLAB's excellent graphical capabilities to display and analyze results effectively. Additionally, a comprehensive chapter on the finite element method addresses practical aspects, including mesh generation, allowing readers to solve general elliptic boundary value problems numerically. With its extensive coverage of analytic and geometric concepts, programs, algorithms, and applications, this work serves as an exceptional educational resource.

Hardcover. Condizione: new. Hardcover. David Joyner and Marshall Hampton's lucid textbook explains differential equations using the free and open-source mathematical software Sage. Since its release in 2005, Sage has acquired a substantial following among mathematicians, but its first user was Joyner, who is credited with helping famed mathematician William Stein turn the program into a usable and popular choice. Introduction to Differential Equations Using Sage extends Stein's work by creating a classroom tool that allows both differential equations and Sage to be taught concurrently. It's a creative and forward-thinking approach to math instruction. Topics include: * First-Order Differential Equations * Incorporation of Newtonian Mechanics* Second-Order Differential Equations* The Annihilator Method* Using Linear Algebra with Differential Equations* Nonlinear Systems* Partial Differential Equations* Romeo and Juliet It's a creative and forward-thinking approach to math instruction.Topics include:; First-Order Differential Equations; Incorporation of Newtonian Mechanics; Second-Order Differential Equations; The Annihilator Method; Using Linear Algebra with Differential Equations; Nonlinear Systems; Partial Differential Equations; Romeo and Juliet Shipping may be from multiple locations in the US or from the UK, depending on stock availability.

Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - This book presents a method for solving linear ordinary differential equations based on the factorization of the differential operator. The approach for the case of constant coefficients is elementary, and only requires a basic knowledge of calculus and linear algebra. In particular, the book avoids the use of distribution theory, as well as the other more advanced approaches: Laplace transform, linear systems, the general theory of linear equations with variable coefficients and variation of parameters. The case of variable coefficients is addressed using Mammana's result for the factorization of a real linear ordinary differential operator into a product of first-order (complex) factors, as well as a recent generalization of this result to the case of complex-valued coefficients.
