He is a fellow of the Royal Astronomical Society and a member of the Tensor Society of Japan and the Board of Editors of the International Journal of Engineering Science. He holds B.E.S., M.S.E. and Ph.D. degrees from Johns Hopkins University. Presently, Anastasios D. Kydoniefs is associate professor at the Center for the Application of Mathematics, Lehigh University, Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. In addition to his teaching experience, he has been a senior research assistant and a university research fellow at the University of Nottingham, England. Born in Greece, Dr. Kydoniefs received his B.Sc. degree from the University of Athens, Greece and his M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Nottingham, England. EXCERPT: Preface to the Second Edition - This edition differs from the first in several respects. First, we have corrected the errors and misprints that occur in the first edition and have simplified the proofs at a number of points.
