Paperback. Condizione: Good. From the Dark Shadows to a Vibrant Light: Poems for the Victims and Survivors is short collection of true events, feelings, and words put into poems. These poems are in support of Sexual Assault and Awareness and a creative form of Advocacy. The poems are entered in chronological order of a tragic rape of a college girl and two males who she thought she could trust. It reveals the dark shadows of the event, the aftermath of her struggle, and the peace she has now found. She is going from dark to light, sad to happy, unhealthy to healthy. The thoughts of those nights haunt her for months and make her wonder what her future will consist of, if she can overcome this hurt and betrayal, and even when she wanted to give up she gave herself a little hope. The unfortunate situations appear in her thoughts and sometimes haunt her dreams. From the Dark shadows also includes a poem the girl wrote for a person near and dear to her heart. The two individuals can help one another with their healing process. That girl is me. Through creative writing (poetry), I have helped heal myself. I have overcome my rape and now can say I have grown from victim to survivor. I hope my collection of short poems encourage others who struggle with the aftermath most sexual assault victims go through. I am in hopes that this book will always serve as a form of advocacy for Sexual Assault and Awareness.…

Hardback. Condizione: Fair. The bestselling, beloved classic on how to go into the dark side of yourself to bring out the light -- now with new material. Debbie Ford believes that we each hold within us a trace of every human characteristic that exists, the capacity for every human emotion. We are born with the ability to express this entire spectrum of characteristics. But, Ford points out, our families and our society send us strong messages about which ones are good and bad. So when certain impulses arise, we deny them instead of confronting them, giving them a healthy voice, then letting them go. It is to these feelings that Ford turns our attention, these parts of our selves that don't fit the personae we have created for the rest of the world. She shows us the effects of living in the dark, of keeping all our supposedly unsavory impulses under wraps. We find ourselves disproportionately frustrated and angry at the selfishness of friends, the laziness of colleagues, the arrogance of siblings. When we are unable to reconcile similar impulses in ourselves, Ford explains, we waste our own energy judging others instead of empathizing. But most important, we deny ourselves the power and freedom of living authentically. Through the stories and exercises in The Dark Side of the Light Chasers, Debbie Ford shows us not only how to recognize our hidden emotions, but also how to find the gifts they offer us. This is for fans of Marianne Williamson, Neale Donald Walsch, and Deepak Chopra. The very impulses we most fear may be the key to what is lacking in our lives.…

Condizione: Fair.   Imagine hurricane winds over the Sahara Desert, preceded by a cavalry of tornadoes. Imagine dunes flattened, then resculpted. Then imagine all that at the bottom of the sea.     A Category 4 hurricane has swept the west coast of Florida, creating havoc, changing lives, and reshaping the ocean bottom. Well-known reefs and wrecks have been covered--and new ones have emerged.     From one such wreck, marine biologist Doc Ford and his friends make a chance discovery that will have a monumental effect--a cluster of mysterious objects that lead to an equally mysterious woman and her ancient, gray-gabled estate of a beach house.      The woman weaves a haunting story of a loved one lost, and her chance to uncover the truth if Ford will help salvage the boat, named Dark Light, which sank without explanation in the hurricane of 1944. Intrigued, Ford agrees, and begins a chain of events that will change his life forever. For there are other things in that wreck as well, and other men who want them, men willing to commit terrible acts. And the woman herself--the woman is not what she seems. . . .     Filled with passion and vivid, pungent prose and some of the best characters in suspense fiction, Dark Light is a thriller of uncommon intensity. …
