Ancora poco conosciuto in Italia, è stato allievo, assistente e stretto collaboratore - sia all'Illinois Institute of Technology, sia nello studio professionale - di Ludwig Mies van der Rohe. È stato inoltre anche tra i partner di SOM (Skidmore, Owings & Merrill). Borsista Fulbright, nel 1953 approda a Roma, dove vi resta fino al 1955 per studiare alla Facoltà di Architettura con Pier Luigi Nervi. Viene calorosamente accolto da Bruno Zevi che lo introduce al mondo culturale ed artistico della Capitale, pubblicandogli periodicamente opere e progetti su "L'Architettura, Cronaca e Storia". Come "San Paolo sulla via di Damasco", Myron Goldsmith, grande fautore, conoscitore e progettista di strutture in acciaio, miesiano doc, a Roma "si converte" al cemento armato e ad un nuovo concetto di "forma" nel solco di quel patrimonio culturale, vero e proprio, unico DNA, del quale l'ingegneria strutturale italiana è erede.
