This book, written by Jean Jacques Rousseau, explores the intersection of religion and philosophy by examining the concept of Christianity. Rousseau believes that Christianity can be practiced without the doctrines and dogmas of the organized Church, and that a personal interpretation based on morality and reason is possible. The author argues that Jesus Christ should be seen as a moral philosopher rather than a divine figure, and that the essence of true Christianity lies in following his teachings of love, forgiveness, and compassion. This book challenges traditional views of Christianity and invites readers to consider a more personal and meaningful approach to faith. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.

Aggiungi al carrelloFIRST AND ONLY EDITION of this very rare collection of letters to and from Rousseau, and of works by and about Rousseau, many of which were considered scandalous (which explains why this collection was published in the Hague). 8, 200, 12, 24, 48, 11 pp. Staatman, the publisher, thought up the idea of selling this book under two different titles. He printed two title-pages and two prefaces. There is also an "Avis aux libraires", advising booksellers that, if someone asks for the "Recueil contre M. Rousseau", he (the bookseller) should excise the first title-page and preface. Otherwise, he should excise the second title-page and preface. The original customer for the copy at hand apparently fell into the second category. 8vo. A PRISTINE COPY, ENTIRELY UNCUT, IN THE ORIGINAL stiff drab WRAPS. Light wear to wraps, with a piece missing from the spine, else FINE AND BRIGHT. A rare and fascinating book.
