A pro-police button depicting a frenzied pig sodomizing a black panther. The "Pigs Are Beautiful" campaign began in 1968 in response to the Black Panthers' anthropomorphization of police into pigs, defined by Eldridge Cleaver as "A low natured beast that has no regard for law, justice, or the rights of people; a creature that bites the hand that feeds it; a foul, depraved traducer, usually found masquerading as the victim of an unprovoked attack." California officer Bernie Frydman created the acronym 'Pride-Integrity-Guts-Service' and the slogan Pigs Are Beauful appeared on t-shirts, sweatshirts, ties, buttons, tie pins, cufflinks and posters. Although popular with some police offiers until the early 1970s, the campaign ultimately fizzled and the term remains a slur. Button measures 2" in diameter. Small green sticker to metal backing, else fine.
