Condizione: Fine. Highlands, North Carolina. . Fine. - A four-page letter penned on both sides of two 9-7/8 inch high by 6-5/8 inch wide cream paper. Writing as managing director of the Caldwell Playhouse and the Highlands Playhouse, Michael P. Hall tells Jean Dalrymple that he enjoyed meeting her and that he looks "forward to working on our Footlight Dinner Party in your honor Sunday, Dec. 4, in Boca Raton." He goes on to mention that "Walker is not well" and "They have postponed Minnesota indefinitely." He's sending her a copy of the "not for publication" "Boca Log" recording the company's "trials and tribulations". He then discusses at length his concerns with how Actor's Equity "are unaware totally of the needs and problems of small professional groups who must make it before they can deal with equity." Signed "Michael P. Hall". Fine. The co-founder and artistic director of the Caldwell Theatre Company in Boca Raton, Florida Michael P. Hall (1939?-2017) co-founded the company with Frank Bennett. The company was nicknamed "the hoop-skirt theatre" for its productions of classic period plays such as "The Heiress" and "The Barretts of Wimpole Street". Hall, with his creative team and actors, won more than 75 Carbonell Awards. The recipient, Jean Dalrymple (1902-1998) was the dynamic producer and director of theater and light-opera at Manhattan's City Center. Dalrymple began her career in Vaudeville, appearing with James Cagney and Carey Grant in the early 1930s. She was a founding member of the American Theatre Wing, the theatre service organization. She worked over the years as a personal manager for the likes of Leopold Stokowski, Mary Martin, Jos Iturbi, Andre Kostalanetz, Nathan Milstein, and Lily Pons. She began her work at City Center with its founding in 1943, serving as a board member and publicist. Her productions there from the 1940s through the 1960s were a revitalizing influence on the whole New York theatre scene. In 1951, Jean Dalrymple married Major-General Philip deWitt Ginder, commander of the Thunderbirds in Korea. She was a friend to Presidents and entertainment personalities throughout the world.

Born on January 14, 1876, in New Brighton, Cheshire, England, Loraine initially pursued a career in the military. He served in the British Army and later became interested in aviation. Loraine gained fame not only for his acting skills but also for his achievements in aviation. He became the first person to make a live parachute jump from an airplane in 1913. This daring feat added to his reputation as an adventurous and multi-talented individual. In the realm of acting, Robert Loraine had a successful career on both sides of the Atlantic. He appeared in numerous stage productions, including several Shakespearean plays. His notable roles include performances in "Cyrano de Bergerac" and "If I Were King." Loraine was known for his strong stage presence and his ability to capture the audience's attention. When World War I broke out, Loraine once again took on a military role and served as a pilot in the Royal Flying Corps. After the war, he continued his acting career and also became involved in aviation ventures. Unfortunately, Robert Loraine's life was cut short in a tragic plane crash. On December 23, 1935, his aircraft crashed in the English Channel, resulting in his death at the age of 59. Despite the tragic end to his life, Loraine is remembered for his pioneering contributions to aviation and his successful career as a stage actor. ; 19.2 x 13.3 x 3.1 cms; xxviii, 274, (2) pages Original gilt decorated blindstamped cloth.

Aggiungi al carrellopaperback. Condizione: Very Good. Most of our very good books have only minor imperfections such as shelf wear consistent with a new book that's sat on a bookshop shelf for a year or two. Occasionally we may miss other minor imperfections as we have to grade books at speed. Our books are dispatched from a Yorkshire former cotton mill. We list via barcode/ISBN so please note that the images are stock images and may not be the exact copy you receive, furthermore the details about edition and year might not be accurate as many publishers reuse the same ISBN for multiple editions and as we simply scan a barcode or enter an ISBN we do not check the validity of the edition data when listing. If you're looking for an exact edition please don't order (at least not without checking with us first, although we don't always have time to check). We aim to dispatch prompty, the service used will depend on order value and book size. We can ship to most countries, see our shipping policies. Payment is via Abe only.
