Max Born (1882-1970) was a German theoretical physicist credited with bringing the theory of quantum dynamics to the United States in the form of a series of lectures delivered at MIT and contained within the present volume. At the time I began this course of lectures, HeisenbergÕs first paper on the new quantum theory had just appeared.
