Aggiungi al carrellopp. (28). The first edition of Max Neuhaus? Program Notes, which consists of short printed statements by the innovative sound artist as he sought to redefine the boundaries of his new audio practice. Max Neuhaus (1939 - 2009) began his career as a percussionist and experimental musician in the late ?50s, working with the likes of John Cage and Karlheinz Stockhausen. By the mid-60s however, Neuhaus became increasingly interested in the broader realm of sound, eventually becoming a pioneer in the field of sound art. His Program Notes booklet, which reads as a sort of treatise on sound, music, and the economics of arts funding, is perhaps most well-known for the third of the printed statements: ?Traditionally composers have located the elements of a composition in time. One idea which I am interested in is locating them, instead, in space ? and letting the listener place them in his own time? In this quotation, Neuhaus lays the foundations for the future of sound installation, differentiating his work from conventional music by the contrast between time and space, and in the respect of the mode of listening. A groundbreaking text work, rare in the original edition. Original glossy white wrappers, stapled. Minor handling creases to covers, overall a very good copy.
