It had been intended that Sotheby's would go on to catalogue and sell the…remainder of Horblit's collection but in fact only the 2 sales reflected here took place; most of the remaining books being either sold to H P Kraus or donated to Harvard. The background is discussed, and a possible explanation given, in Basbanes' " A Gentle Madness". Catalogues arranged by author, with subject, chronological and selective provenance indexes.
