Boards a bit dust-soiled, spine label toned, light foxing to preliminaries, later ownership rubberstamp to front pastedown, else Very Good and sound. Forms part of the publisher's "Indian Captivities Series," this title first published in 1707. The author John Williams (1664-1729) and his family were among the hundred and nine prisoners taken from Deerfield by a group of French Canadians and their Abenaki allies during Queen Anne's War of 1702. Williams was held captive in Quebec City until 1706 when a prisoner exchange was affected. His memoirs were published the following year, and were six times reprinted by the end of the century. A facsimile of the title page of the sixth (1795) edition serves as the frontispiece of this edition.
