The Rhind Mathematical Papyrus, circa 1600 B.C., named after A. Henry Rhind. Sir Henry purchased the papyrus in 1858 after it had been discovered in Thebes in the ruins of a small structure. No other document presents such extensive information about early Egyptian mathematics. It was not until the early 20th century that the work received such intensive work from Arnold Buffum Chace who after ten works joined with Henry Parker Manning to complete the work, published the facsimiles with the advanced translation and notes of their work. Ex-library copy with their library perforated stamp to the bottom of the title page. Nicely rebound in a modern maroon cloth and maroon cloth endpapers, spine lettering gilt. Besides the perforated library stamp there are no other names or bookplates.
