This set is uniformly bound in handsome full leather tan bindings with decoratively marbled endpapers, pastedowns and textblock edges. The spines are banded with elaborate and delicate gold gilt. Volume 5 is missing a section of spine cover and the rest have various chipping and rubbing to the ends and raised sections. The boards have rubbed edges. The front covers of volumes 6 and 8 are coming loose from the bindings. The textblocks are consistently firmly bound. The textblocks show a typical amount of dusty marks and general age in line with an early 1800s collection, but the toning is pleasantly mild for books of two centuries. The text remains unfaded and legible throughout. A decent collection with handsome bindings and potential for repair and refresh.
