Aggiungi al carrelloA small, but important, grouping of documents from the national Progressive Citizens of America (PCA), a short-lived progressive organization founded in December 1946 out of a merger between the CIO-affiliated National Citizens Political Action Committee and the Independent Citizens Committee of the Arts, Sciences, and Professio…ns. It endorsed Henry Wallace as the Progressive Party candidate and reportedly had close to 100,000 members during the 1948 campaign (including Hollywood celebrities such as Gene Kelly, Gregory Peck, Dalton Trumbo, Frank Sinatra, and African American activists like Charlotta Bass, Lena Horne and Paul Robeson. But its dubious alliance with the Communist Party led to HUAC investigations and the estalishment of the rival Americans for Democratic Action and by early 1948 the organization merged with the Independent Progressive Party (at least in California). Included in this collection are: By-Laws Progressive Citizens of America. Six corner-stapled 11" x 8 ½" sheets mimeographed from typescript on rectos only.
