Wren (1875 - 1941) is probably best remembered as the author of the much filmed 'Beau Geste' (1924) a romantic adventure of life in the French Foreign Legion but this was not his first book, he had already written sixteen novels and non fiction books. He went on to write many more, over fifty in fact. Wren could construct a first class plot and had a sure touch with dialogue that was salty and humorous. He could handle quick action and create memorable characters. Many of these books are now sadly out of print so second hand copies are now very collected. I am selling over thirty P C Wren novels and short story collections on this site. This story originally published in 1914 was described in a review as "a story often tragic in its incident but powerful in holding the reader's interest" is set in British India and is a stirring tale of life in the Queen's Own 118th Bombay Lancers. This copy is a reprint of the new edition originally published in 1926 it is bound in brown rexine covered boards with blind stamping to the front and gilt titling to the spine The stock is bright and tight with no inscriptions or markings.
