In remarkably good condition in dark blue cloth with exquisite gilt decorated front, spine and titles. Slight wear to corners and spine head and heel. Sewn binding tight and solid, square, endbands. Hinges intact. Top edge gilt. Fore-edge and lower edge rough cut. May be some uncut leaves. Frontis plate with lettered and illustrated guard. Three other plates, monotone. Internals lightly toned, in remarkably good condition with lower edge of pp 181-82 and 183-84 torn, it appears while leaves were being cut, othewise clean, no markings, no creases or tears.
