Aggiungi al carrelloPaperback. Condizione: new. Paperback. This title treats statistical issues that are of relevance in spatial studies for remote sensing. It consists of contributions by international experts in this field. A brief overview of basic statistics is given, followed by physical aspects of the topic. Spatial statistics addresses classification of images by supervised and unsupervised procedures, estimation of spatial structures by variograms, interpolation, simulation, sampling and issues of scale. Geographical information systems allow the integration of remote sensing with other sources of information, concentrating on the concept of the pixel. Attention is also given to decision support for a wide variety of possible and important decisions. A single data set is used throughout the book. This book therefore provides an overview of the state of the art of spatial statistics for remote sensing, highlighting new frontiers in this rapidly developing field of science. `Lunar Gravimetry: Revealing the Far-Side is a long-awaited monograph wrapping up the past decades of lunar gravimetric research. Despite a series of lunar missions and extensive research on the subject, half of the lunar globe has remained unaccessed. This text shows how this deficit impacts today's knowledge about the Moon, how to attack this problem in modern data analysis and how to ultimately solve it by dedicated inter-satellite tracking in future lunar exploration missions. This book is a collection of papers on spatial statistics for remote sensing. The ITC has a long history on collecting and analyzing satellite and other remote sensing data, but its involvement into spatial statistics is of a more recent date. Shipping may be from multiple locations in the US or from the UK, depending on stock availability.

Aggiungi al carrelloTaschenbuch. Condizione: Neu. Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - This book is a collection of papers on spatial statistics for remote sensing. The book emerges from a study day that was organized in 1996 at the International Institute for Aerospace Survey and Earth Sciences, ITC, in Enschede, The Netherlands. It was by several means a memorable event. The beautiful new building, according to a design by the famous modern Dutch architect Max van Huet was just opened, and this workshop was the first to take place there. Of course, much went wrong during the workshop, in particular as the newest electronic equipment regularly failed. But the workshop attrackted more than hundred attendants, and was generally well received. The results of the workshop have been published in Stein et al. (1998). The aim of the workshop was to address issues of spatial statistics for remote sensing. The ITC has a long history on collecting and analyzing satellite and other remote sensing data, but its involvement into spatial statistics is of a more recent date. Uncertainties in remote sensing images and the large amounts of data in many spectral bands are now considered to be of such an impact that it requires a separate approach from a statistical point of view. To quote from the justification of the study day, we read: Modern communication means such as remote sensing require an advanced use of collected data. Satellites collect data with different resolution on different spectral bands.

Knowledge of the size and distribution of human population is essential for understanding and responding to many social, political, economical, and environmental problems. In the United States, the decennial census is the primary source of demographic data. Although the U.S. Census Bureau conducts census surveys at the household level, the agency only releases the data by aggregated enumeration units, not only to preserve the confidentiality of original respondents, but also for administrative convenience. Currently the finest census population data available to the public is at the block level. The main purpose of this study is to develop methodology to estimate sub-block-level population and to assess the estimation errors. In addition, the author intends to develop methodology for classifying detailed urban land use classes. This study will have broader impacts to the society in its potential applications.
