He worked as an advisor to the British Monotype Corporation for over 40 years and was influential in its development of new typefaces, as well as the revival of historical types. This publication was for an exhibition about his work that was timed to coincide with IPEX, the Twelfth International Printing Machinery and Allied Trades exhibition, and the meeting of the Association Typographique Internationale, both held in London in 1971. Contains notes on exhibition items, two-color plates of a number of book covers, and an unnumbered section of plates and photographs on glossy paper at the back of the publication. Octavo. Red and tan paper wrappers with repeated "SM" medallion. Pages are bright and clean. 64 numbered pages, with 14 unnumbered pages of plates. BOB/013124.
