In the first three chapters the basic notions from statistic analysis and probability theory are presented. Chapter 4 extensively describes the functions of the statistical calculation toolbox in Matlab, applied in solving many specific problems presented in Chapters 1, 2 and 3. Chapters 5 and 6 come with real-world problems from finance, modeled with diverse tools; one is approached with a popular software package, and the other one is solved using modern communication technologies and parallel computing. Chapter 7 presents a statistical study for the quality control of an industrial process.
