Full title: SUPPLEMENT TO THE REVISED CODE OF THE LAWS OF VIRGINIA: BEING A COLLECTION OF ALL THE ACTS OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY, OF A PUBLIC AND PERMANENT NATURE, PASSED SINCE THE YEAR 1819, WITH A GENERAL INDEX. TO WHICH ARE PREFIXED, THE ACTS ORGANIZING A CONVENTION, THE DECLARATION OF RIGHTS, AND THE AMENDED CONSTITUTION OF VIRGINIA. viii, 584 pages. Hardcover: H 22.25cm x L 14.25cm. Original full calf leather rubbed with several small stains, patches of surface peeling to leather to front and rear boards, top board corners worn, spine ends scuffed with small loss at heel, spine retains original red title label with still bright gilt borders and gilt lettering of "Supplement to the Revised Code." Foxing to preliminary and terminal leaves; short tearing at front free endpaper's spine edge; faded pencil signatures and writing on front endpapers; faded pencil writing and single ink notation on rear flyleaf recto; very strong toning and some foxing occurring to title leaf inclusive to page 280; evidently different paper stock utilized afterwards as remaining leaves (pages 281-584) retain original white tone albeit with varied foxing. Binding is still firm. An attractive good antiquarian copy of an uncommon Richmond, Virginia imprint.

Hardcover. Condizione: Good. Hardcover. Bound in full leather, traditional brown sheepskin with red title label. Some wear to the edges of the boards, hinges, and spine. Binding tight, square, everything intact. Title page dated 1833. 584 pages. Final page is the index entry for the W's. If there were once a page with XYZ's, it is missing. The first 280 pages are printed on different quality paper than the final 300 pages. It toned more towards brown and gives the volume the appearance of being two volumes bound together into one. Early ownership name on the front free endpaper of Lewis A. Boggs. July 1837. Boggs was the Chief Justice of Spotsylvania County VA, owner of the 2000 acre plantation called Livingston. A notable association for a antebellum law book. Please email with questions or to request photos.
