Black and white illustration plates throughout and similar frontispiece, all with tissue guard. Gilt edges to textblock. Pages bright with some tanning and foxing, particularly to textblock edges and endpapers. Some pages creased and corners folded. Binding remains firm. Boards have heavy shelf wear with bumping and fraying to corners, crushing to spine ends and rubbing and moderate staining all over. Spine heavily worn and deteriorating. Gilt dulled.

Hardcover. Condizione: Good. First Edition. Full leather boards, stamped gilt borders to spine, gilt lettering of Tatler over burgundy label at spine, front board nearly detached but present. Bound in at frontis is a piece by Richard Steele, an item dedicated to William Lord Cowper, set in overlarge type-face, then begins with Tuesday, January 3rd, 1709 issue (#115). The interior is remarkably bright, with some scuffing along edges, tips, joints, else quite nice.Member, I.O.B.A., C.B.A., and adherent to the highest ethical standards. Additional postage may be required for oversize or especially heavy volumes, and for sets.

Leather is scuffed and worn with significant deterioration along spine, edges and corners. Would benefit from some repair. Endpapers torn. Pages clean. Text unmarked. Sold "as-is." The Tatler was a literary and society journal that published for two years from 1709 until 1711. After its closure, Steele would go on to found The Spectator with Joseph Addison, but collected editions of the Tatler, like the volume offered here, continued to sell in the popular press. This third volume covers the period from Tues. Jan 3, 1709-10 (No. 115 Steele and Addison) until. Saturday, June 24, 1710 (No. 189, Steele).
