Rubbed, edges, spine quite faded, surface a little chipped, missing free front endpaper, rub mark to upper right corner of half-title. Interior good, clear and legible. Good condition. Covers are worn at corners and head and foot of spine, but binding is strong. Overall discoloration. Light rubbing to the fore-edge. Pages evenly discolored throughout, with heavier discoloration to the endpapers. A small water stain along the head of the first few pages.Endpapers cracked along the gutter in the front and back, but the pages are still firmly attached. Binding is strong. A short pencilled note to page 41 and previous owner's name written to the front and rear free end papers. No other marks or writing. This book belonged to Monroe Martin-former head of the math department at UMD and founding director of the Institute of Fluid Dynamics and Applied Mathematics.
