[Philadelphia: Printed by Ketterlinus, circa 1922.] Unpaginated. [16 pages]. Illustrated from photos throughout. Original self wraps, stitched with string as issued. 14 x 10 cm. Some light soiling and toning to wraps, still about very good. An early brochure for this acclaimed North Carolina resort. The Grove Park Inn opened in 1913. This pamphlet includes a photo and description of the golf course and club house at the Biltmore Forest Country Club. The course was designed by Donald Ross and completed in 1922. On the rear wrap is a piece on "Our New Organ," being a pipe organ built by Ernest M. Skinner of Boston, which was installed in 1919. This is signed (in type) by F.L.S. This was Fred Loring Seely, the builder of the Grove Park Inn and its manager from the day it opened until 1927. In addition to a description of the Grove Park's accomodations and amenities, the pamphlet discusses the handicraft work of Biltmore Industries, purchased from the Vanderbilts and greatly expanded by Seely in 1917. Visitors to the Inn were invited to tour the shops which produced homespun cloth and wood-carving. Not in Thornton (locating two other early Grove Park pamphlets).
