Preceded by an introduction discussing the sources of the j…ests, as well as tastes in various countries (asserting most of the jokes from Germany were dull). Compiled by John Pinkerton, a Scottish scholar, cartographer and numismatist. POOR/FAIR condition. Both covers DETACHED. Heavy scuffing to the leather along the extremities. Spine flaking, chipped and worn. General darkening. Several owner's notations and names in the front, with an old bookseller catalog description glued in on an endpaper. Scattered foxing throughout. A few stray pencil lines in the text.
