Melt half a pound of brown sugar with one teaspoon ful of water. Stir steadily over fire until brown. Add slowly one cup of boiling water and one teaspoonful of salt. Boil one minute; when cool bottle and cork tightly.
One tablespoonful will color clear soup. Mrs. Wm. P. Lawler.
