The last 15 years have seen significant advances in understanding of the behavior of soils under cyclic loading and the influence of this behavior on structures, but the knowledge has not been widely disseminated to geotechnical engineers concerned with problems of earthquake, offshore and pavement engineering, and other situations where cyclic loading is important. Coverage includes modelling, testing, foundation design of offshore gravity structures, large piles with special reference to offshore structures, pavement and rail track foundations, seismic loading, long-term settlement of structures, vibrational loading used in the construction process.
