This book deals with learning disorders in children: defining what constitutes learning disorders; classifying the types; reviewing the neuropsychological dysfunctions concomitant with each such type; diagnosis and assessment (multidisciplinary), encompassing psychological, educational, psychiatric and neurological elements; principles of remediation and management, pharmacological and psychotherapeutic; prevention; and a separate section on clinical patterns and intervention recommendations for the various types of learning disorder. Up-to-date research is reported throughout and case examples support the clinical sections. A final chapter deals with future directions for service and research.
