"I'm tired all the time." "I wake up in the night feeling as if I have a tight iron band around my chest." "My stomach churns." "I have terrible headaches." "I'm unable to take a really deep breath." "I can't sleep." "Sometimes I can't leave home, even to do a routine errand." These common symptoms of nervous illness are only "minor" to the people who don't' suffer from them . . . But to the thousands of people who do, they make the difference between a happy, healthy life and one of crippling fear and frustration. Now, Dr. Claire Weekes offers the results of years of experience in treating her many patients--including some who thought they'd never recover. Like them, you can learn how to overcome your battle with the "adrenalin-releasing nerves" that are causing your distress. You can understand and analyze your own symptoms . . . learn how to break the cycle of fear . . . and relax. You can start enjoying life again. - and - "THEY SAY IT'S JUST NERVES . . ." But it hurts! It can stop you from working. Upset your personal relationships. Transform you from the busy and interesting person you used to be into someone else. Dr. Claire Weekes has treated victims of nervous illness with the care that only a sympathetic, understanding doctor could have. From the man who has trouble swallowing . . . to the woman who cannot travel outside the safety of her own home . . . to the young girl who is afraid she will be sick in public. Dr. Weekes has answers for them all. She knows about the tricks your nervous system can play on you, and gives down-to-earth, step-by-step guidance for achieving full recovery. In 1929, Dr. Claire Weekes became the first woman to obtain the degree of Doctor of Science at the University of Sydney. She graduated with a degree in medicine from the University of Sydney in 1945, became a member of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in 1955, and was elected Fellow of the College in 1973.
