Vardis Fisher was born in Idaho; wrote most of his 35+ books while in Idaho; and remained an Idahoan his entire career despite going to Chicago and New York to study and teach. A contemporary of Thomas Wolfe and others, Fisher's career has been marked by incredible success and controversy.
