The Park was turned over to the City, after several years of delay in accept ance and cooperation in improvements which it had agreed to make as its share, on October 12, 1935. While its unusual features, in wide views of the Hudson, in the solution of problems of heavy construction and, particularly, in the rich ness of its plantings of trees; shrubs and herbaceous plants, have been appreciated during the winter months, they will receive still greater appreciation in the spring and summer of 1936, when the hundreds of species come into bloom and the plant associations are at their highest degree of beauty.
