Sinossi

The Ashmolean's collections are extraordinary. They reflect four centuries of evolving knowledge about many of the world's great civilisations. These treasures, brought together in a 'collection of collections', deserve a museum that makes them accessible to the widest possible audience in an engaging and instructive manner. It is this vision that is at the heart of the new Ashmolean.
Published to mark the re-opening of the Ashmolean Museum in November 2009, this book celebrates the remarkable transformation of the oldest public museum in England, and serves as an introduction to the new Museum, its history and greatest treasures.
