This book examines Operation theater practices in some of the leading tertiary care referral hospitals in Delhi, through the lens of these guidelines. Presented in the form of an inter hospital comparative study, it throws up some remarkable local modifications that these hospitals have achieved, mostly remaining within the ambit of the guidelines, but occasionally falling short. The book intends to highlight no so much the deficiencies, but the adaptations and the differences between the public and private hospitals.It also questions simplistic assumptions for poor compliance.But more importantly it hopes shed light on best practices that suit developing nations without eschewing standard guidelines.The authors are confident that the book will bridge the gap in the knowledge and practice regarding Disinfection and Sterilization practices, particularly of Operation Theaters among Hospital managers and Microbiologists alike.

Dr. Parmeshwar Kumar is an Assistant Professor ,Hospital Administration at All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, India.He is a WHO advisor for Human Resource Management, with a special interest in Organizational Behavior.While teaching remains his primary interest, his areas of research include Infection Control and Patient Safety.
