In questo viaggio fotografico senza precedenti, il curatore Karl Kolbitz varca la soglia di 144 degli ingressi più sontuosi della città, che incantano per varietà e splendore. Il volume comprende edifici costruiti tra il 1920 e il 1970 e illustra l’opera di alcuni dei più celebri architetti e designer milanesi, tra cui Giovanni Muzio, Gio Ponti, Piero Portaluppi e Luigi Caccia Dominioni, come pure strutture meno note ma non per questo meno affascinanti e interessanti. Le immagini, appositamente commissionate a Delfino Sisto Legnani, Paola Pansini e Matthew Billings, catturano l’atmosfera degli ambienti con una sensibilità personale e uno stile in cui i singoli dettagli (come pietre, maniglie e corrimano) interagiscono con spazi architettonici più ampi.

Karl Kolbitz è un editore, autore e art director il cui lavoro spazia dall’arte all’architettura, dalla moda al design. Nelle sue pubblicazioni, Kolbitz perlustra spesso ciò che si nasconde nelle pieghe della quotidianità, mettendone in luce i dettagli apparentemente casuali. Ha ricevuto riconoscimenti internazionali per Entryways of Milan (2017), un omaggio all’architettura moderna della città.
