Sinossi

Water originated life, it protected life from harmful radiations, when ozone layer was not formed and also water sustains life. Thus, water can be used as synonyms of "Tridev", i.e. Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva. Rapid momentum of progress and industrialisation has ruined the sirface water, which is just a fraction of one percent of the total water. Similar situation is prevailing in nearly all the rivers globally. River Ami, in Gorakhpur India receives effluent and waste from many large and small industries. The river has vast coverage area. Therefore, it also affects the ground water quality in addition to the agricultural produce. The book embodies results of investigation carried out of above aspects as a part of doctoral work, at DDU Gorakhpur University, Gorakhpur in India. The overall study has been divided into ten chapters, including the possible remedial measures and surplus bibliography. The book is useful for the scientists, academicians and all those interested in the environmental issues. This study can also be useful to the scholars for conducting the comparative study of the rivers. The book also alarms against the experiments with the nature, as conducted practically.
