This qualitative study, carried out as part of a midwifery diploma thesis, aims to understand the growing demand for "natural" childbirth, by studying the profiles, expectations and motivations of women who are in this process, and then to reflect on the perspectives in terms of care provision that would meet such a demand. It is based on a human sciences methodology using questionnaires and semi-directive interviews with twelve pregnant women who have made this request for a "natural" birth. The results show that women wishing to give birth naturally have a common profile; their expectations are focused on personalised support and a reasoned medicalisation of their birth. Respect for physiology, the need for intimacy and a relationship of trust with the midwife, as well as the desire to be the main actors in the birth of their child seem to be the main motivations of these women. The study also highlights the importance of continuous support from a known person, the father or the midwife, and the importance of the birth environment.
