It is based on a human sciences methodology using questionnaires and semi-directive interviews with twelve pregnant women who have made this request for a 'natural' birth. The results show that women wishing to give birth naturally have a common profile; their expectations are focused on personalised support and a reasoned medicalisation of their birth. Respect for physiology, the need for intimacy and a relationship of trust with the midwife, as well as the desire to be the main actors in the birth of their child seem to be the main motivations of these women.
