L’universo artistico di Loris Cecchini, tra forme organiche, installazioni ambientali e l'utilizzo di materiali industriali
Questa monografia, curata da Ilaria Bernardi, presenta il primo esame sistematico e completo dell’attività dell’artista italiano Loris Cecchini, dal suo esordio nella metà degli anni Novanta a oggi. La pubblicazione coincide con i trent’anni dell’attività espositiva intrapresa dall’artista nel 1995 con la partecipazione a tre mostre collettive.
Il volume si basa sulla ricostruzione delle sue esposizioni personali e collettive, oltre a fornire informazioni sui premi, sulle residenze, sulle “lecture”, nonché inserti di approfondimento sulle più importanti tipologie di opere riscontrabili all’interno della sua produzione.
Oscillando tra fotografia, scultura, disegno, elaborazioni in digitale e installazioni ambientali, la pratica di Cecchini mira a plasmare lo spazio reale attraverso materiali innovativi, concentrandosi sul processo organico della materia e sui processi estetici, architettonici, organici e strutturali, con particolare interesse per i materiali di uso industriale come le gomme, le resine e l’acciaio. Mette così in discussione il senso del reale, in una prospettiva sospesa tra il naturale e l’artificiale che sfida la percezione dello spettatore.
La monografia, ricostruendo l’arco della vita personale e creativa di Cecchini attraverso un intreccio di informazioni biografiche, ricerche storiche rilevanti e una ricca selezione di opere, costituisce un contributo nuovo e unico alla letteratura dedicata all’artista.

Loris Cecchini è nato nel 1969 a Milano, dove vive e lavora. Le sue opere sono state esposte in diversi musei internazionali, tra cui il Palais de Tokyo di Parigi, il MoMA PS1 di New York, il Centro Gallego de Arte Contemporanea di Santiago de Compostela, il Kunstverein di Heidelberg, il MOCA di Shanghai. Loris Cecchini ha inoltre partecipato a numerose mostre internazionali e creato installazioni permanenti e site-specific in sedi prestigiose di tutto il mondo.
Ilaria Bernardi è curatrice e storica dell’arte contemporanea. Attualmente è direttrice e curatrice delle attività espositive di Associazione Genesi, il primo museo itinerante d’arte contemporanea in Italia. Collabora inoltre come curatrice con Cittadellarte – Fondazione Pistoletto e dal 2018 ha curato mostre per il Ministero degli Affari Esteri e della Cooperazione Internazionale, con l’obiettivo di promuovere l’arte contemporanea italiana all’estero. Parallelamente è docente alla IULM, svolge attività di responsabile e consulente scientifica per archivi d’artista e per collezionisti privati, ed è curatrice della pagina mensile dedicata agli archivi d’artista su Il Giornale dell’Arte. Nel corso delle sue precedenti collaborazioni curatoriali ha lavorato, tra gli altri, con Germano Celant e, al Castello di Rivoli Museo d’Arte Contemporanea, con Carolyn Christov-Bakargiev, e ha curato mostre per istituzioni pubbliche e importanti sedi espositive sia in Italia sia all’estero.
