Rey was a French publishing house known for publishing beautifully illustrated books on various regions and countries, particularly before 1930. This set contains: Au Pays de Saint Francois d'Assise, 1924. With numerous in-text heliogravures. A guide to the land of Giovanni di Pietro di Bernardone, known as Francis of Assisi, an Italian mystic, poet, and Catholic friar who founded the religious order of the Franciscans. Assisi was a medieval hill town in Umbria, central Italy. Written by Gabriel Faure, a French poet, novelist and essayist, noted as the author of many books about Italy. Grenoble: Capitale des Alpes Francaises, 1925. Illustrated with one hundred and ninety-eight in-text heliogravures. A guide to Grenoble, the largest city of the Isere department in the Auvergne-Rhone-Alpes region of southeastern France. The city has grown to be one of Europe's most important research, technology and innovation centres. Written by Henri Ferrand, a French geographer, lawyer, writer and mountaineer. La Route des Dolomites, 1925. With numerous in-text heliogravures. A guide to the The Dolomites, a mountain range in northeastern Italy, with chapters on Bolzano, Cortina and Lake Misuirina, Pieve di Cadore, Veneto, and the land of Titian. Written by Gabriel Faure. Limited to one hundred and twenty-five copies, of which this is number thirty-three. Illustrated with one hundred and seventy-two collogravures. A guide to Luxembourg, a landlocked country in Western Europe, with details of the history of the country, important sites, culture and customs, and much more. Written by Nicolas Ries, a Luxembourgish writer and publisher, and Robert Hausemer, a Luxembourgish writer of travel books. Bound in quarter crushed morocco with marbled boards, with the original paper wraps bound in. Externally, sound with some discolouration to the spines with minor wear to the extremities.
