A manuscript note pasted to half title reports that the last Wykeham Martin to live at the Castle was Cornwallis, who made his living from shooting, and that the Filmer-Wilsons took over the Castle, 'the people of the great gambling case at Tranby Croft, when King Edward cheated and Sir William Gordon-Cumming took the blame'.
