Part II. is "On Books."-the denominations, forms, and sizes of books; different styles of bookbinding; remarks on the preservation of books; on the knowledge of books, and an improved system for the classification of a library. Part III. A notice of the principal works extant on Literary History in general, and on Bibliography in particular. In this part is included a list of works on the history and art of printing, including a brief analysis of the authors hypotheses relative to the origin and invention of typography, and memoirs of eminent printers. In the Appendix is a list of the principal vignettes or marks, monograms, and devices used by the ancient printers; and Hansard borrowed these illustrations for his 'Typographia." An ex-university library set with callnumber labels on the spines and barcode labels on the rear boards, taped under clear plastic, stamps on the lower edges of the textblock and the title-pages, and a docket and label on the rear pastedown endpapers. Spines faded, covers slightly sunned, internally - apart from the library labels etc- Good.
