Folio bound in sixes, approximately 315 x 210 mm, 12½ x 8 inches, 122 FULL PAGE ILLUSTRATIONS plus 1 half page, (the knight in armour at front is duplicated ("lansquenet" ), 1 small text illustration and some troop formations in the text. Pages: [8], 1-279, [1], numerous errors in numbering, all catchwords correct, printer's device to title page and last page, decorated initials, bound in full speckled calf, gilt lettered label and floral decoration between raised bands to spine, marbled endpapers, edges red. Slight rubbing to spine, old ink number top of title page, old ink Latin inscription at foot stating that the book was bought for 6 silver coins in 1541, plate at page 21 has repaired closed tear to lower margin, running into illustration, no loss to image, pin sized worm hole on pages 1-46 including title page, slightly larger worm hole to pages 42- 65 affecting text and illustrations, very little damage, just affecting a few letters, pale age-browning to title page and several other pages, occasional small stain and fox spot. A very good attractive copy.
