Descrizione dell’articolo da parte del venditore

A very smart limited edition of Furst's study of the woodcut, with over 200 illustrations. In the publisher's original cloth binding. This is a 1979 reprint of Herbert Furst's survey of the art of the woodcut, limited to 500 copies. The work of individual artists, such as Albrecht Dürer, Thomas Bewick, and Edvard Munch, is carefully analysed, allowing the reader to follow the fascinating development of this art form. 218 illustrations. 1 folding plate facing page 124. The 16 colour plates are in black and white in this edition as, according to Quarto Press, 'The destruction of the original colour blocks and the technical problems of rescreening four-colour process-work has obliged the present publisher to reproduce in monochrome the sixteen colour illustrations of the original work'. Collated complete. In publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, very smart. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean. Fine.
